Palma del Río, Córdoba
Despite stepping off the train on a late September afternoon, the sun was shining high in the sky and the temperature was in the high 30’s. Having lugged two suitcases containing my entire life (complete with scarves and jackets for the upcoming winter) I was seriously overdressed and overheating. Thankfully, I was immediately greeted with Andalusian charm and a colleague came to pick me up from the train station and drove me to my hotel. From the word go, I was very thankful for the hospitality and kindness I experienced from the people in this town. Even before I arrived, they were thinking of me and helping me find accommodation and offering their help should I ever need it. On the drive into town, we were halted by a herd of sheep being led from their grazing grounds back to their farm; though some may have wondered what in the world they were doing in a small town like this, I couldn’t have been happier.
